Found out my dad is flying in tomorrow! Thankful his boss is letting him come and I can have him be my cheerleader for the week. Love you, dad! Your company is very much needed.

I’m ready to unveil my apartment. :)

Some of you have been asking for apartment pics, but I haven’t been quite pleased with how everything looks until just now. I really love how everything came together. My co-decorator (AKA my mom) and I put the finishing touches on every corner of my place. She’s always been an awesome decorator! All my stuff is a collection of knickknacks that I’ve picked up from just about everywhere. I needed helping making all these funky pieces I love come together and mom really helped it all mesh. Anyway, enjoy and if you’re reading from home… quit looking at pics and come see it for yourself. Love you!

Pic 1: The big picture.

Pic 2: I picked up that coffee table from a sorority sister out here. I immediately wanted to paint it out of shock, but the color grew on me a bit. Purple works :)

Pic 3: Shelf from IKEA and most knickknacks are from Marshall’s. If you’re willing to dig you can find some hidden treasures there. My mom found the sailboat and I love it. Reminds me of growing up on the lake and sailing with my dad.

Pic 4, 5 & 6: I’ve been collecting things for this wall since the day I moved! I just have to share with you all the cool/inexpensive pieces that are apart of this photo wall and inlet.

  • Most of the frames are from IKEA except the black glass one.
  • The vertical 3-photo frame on the left is of these beautiful postcards I grabbed in Hawaii years ago.
  • Mirror was $7 from Hobby Lobby.
  • The “Live, Laugh, Love” metal words were $8 each at Hobby Lobby.
  • The frame with the puppy photo is the front of a card that I just think is precious. Cards act as great frame fillers if you’ve got nothing else at hand.
  • The giraffe print box was homemade by my grandma. (I have three and they all rock.)
  • The lamp is a mix and match base and shade from Target.
  • The clock was a going away present from my Luxor team.

*This list is proof that you can take any old thing you love and make it work in your home.

Pic 7: The chair was a gift from Overstock.com. This was a little expensive, but if you’re looking for good furniture at affordable prices you’ll have a ton of choices to choose among. All the other stuff was super cheap.

  • Blanket from Marshall’s
  • End table from Ross for $15
  • And there’s another homemade box from grandma :)

Pic 8: Candles are a great way to bring different styles and colors together.

Pic 9: I LOVE this lamp. I grabbed it from Hobby Lobby for 50% off. I’d been seeing more and more home decorating photos of lighting fixtures that have the bulbs exposed in magazines and on Pinterest. How could I pass this up with an exposed light bulb AND rhinestones??!! :)

Pic 10: I just bought all new bedding from Target. I want my bedroom to be very feminine and have an airy, delicate feel. My funky rhinestone lamp is in my bedroom as well. The pillows are from JCPenney. They were intended to go with another bedspread, but I liked the pillows so much and they were a good deal I hung onto them hoping I could find something else they would all match. I also am beginning to think I have a thing for purple. :)

The frames above my bed are from Home Goods. They were relatively inexpensive and it fit my feminine fab theme I’m trying to conquer here.

Hope you like! XO and if you’re not on Pinterest yet… shame on you!

To another good year

I’m not a big fan of resolutions because I believe everyday, not just the beginning of the year, should be used to dream big, set new goals and empower yourself to better yourself. However, since it’s THAT time of year I suppose I’ll layout a short list of goals I’d like to accomplish in 2012.

  1. Read a book a month
  2. Start the Paleolithic diet
  3. Take more pride in my things
  4. Start volunteering with Dress for Success
  5. Save for a new car
  6. Go home more
  7. Take a fitness class
  8. I’VE BEEN DYING TO GO TO MAGIC MOUNTAIN
  9. Pray more
  10. Cook/bake something new weekly

Happy New Year! I wish you all the willpower to accomplish your resolutions :)
